Europe Bound...

I'm in Europe this week for a variety of business meetings and events (currently in London). The story of the trip so far has to do with the 1st leg of the flight. We'll just call it the "Great United Chicken Fiasco." I was flying 1st class on a United 757 to BWI. All seats up front were full -- something like 16 people. Shortly after we took off, the steward came around to chat w/passengers about their preferred lunch entree. When it came to my turn, I asked for the chicken dish (the choices were chicken, steak, or pasta). It turned out that nearly every other passenger asked for chicken, as well...and they only had 10 portions (for 16 people). So, I then learned that the United algorithm for solving such issues is to deal out chicken based on how many miles you've accumulated. Can you believe that? As often as I fly, I didn't end up qualifying for the famous United Rubber Chicken. I ended up with some bland pasta dish that was barely satisfactory. I'm very much looking forward to some local curry this evening...

  • Hey bro. Welcome to the great experience that is United. If ever you have more time on your hands, you might want to read through some of these stories here : http://www.untied.com/ . There's also an industry joke about United's new low-cost airline division, named Ted. You know what that stands for ? Ted is what is left of United after U n I are gone...
