Having grown up in Europe (Munich to be exact) I miss strolling through downtown, watching street musicians, artists and performers while doing your shopping. It was almost like a free show, you'd stop and watch, applaud and throw in a few coins or bills if they were really good.
Life sometimes seems to be just a hectic stream of money chasing now.
