Wilco @ The Paramount

Just got home from the Wilco show @ the Paramount theater in Oakland. Amazing evening. Jeff Tweedy was Jeff Tweedy - witty, unpredictable, wildly engaged with a huge number of different guitars. My favorite comment of the night -- "They're pumping marijuana in here." Nels Cline was insane - perfect fit for the band in his newish role as lead guitarist (SF Chron covers this story here). The band played nearly all of the new album, as well as some better known older stuff. They also suprised the crowd with several covers, including the Blue Oyster Cult classic, "Don't Fear the Reaper," and this one, which they said they played every gig prior to the election. BTW, tomorrow's show @ The Fillmore is being webcast, for those who can't make it.
