"Kaze Wo Atsumete..."

The web is so amazing. Just stumbled across English lyrics for one of my favorite songs on the "Lost in Translation" soundtrack (by the Japanese band "Happy End").

Brief history of this cool JPOP band...

1970
Happy End released debut album. This was the first experiment to combine Japanese serious lyric with sophisticated rock rhythm. They were heavily influenced by Buffalo Springfield, The Band, James Taylor. Basist HOSONO Haruomi formed Caramel Mama, drummer MATSUMOTO Takashi became top selling lyrisist after the band split.

  • It's strange how transcendent a single song can be, it sustains throughout time and reaches people of all ages. I love this song, too; it gives me such a feeling of peace.

  • I love this song too and I'd like to buy the album it's on but Amazon doesn't list the songs or have a sample to listen to. Do you happen to know if it's on any of their albums besides the track on the Lost in Translation soundtrack? I'm just not interested in any of the other songs on the soundtrack.

  • Well, this song is being heard in Bucharest, Romania, in this very moment :) Liked the movie, captures very well the strange feelings a foreigner experiences while visiting Tokio. Kind of another world to a westerner. I wish you all who liked the movie and the song to go visit once Japan.
